Rajasthan provides government subsidies to residential solar panel installations, lowering upfront system costs. The subsidy amount is ₹30,000 per kw for systems up to 2 kW, and a fixed subsidy of ₹78,000 is provided for 3 kW to 10 kW systems. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, under which these subsidies will be provided, encourages solar energy adoption.
The Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 of Rajasthan has set a target of 125,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 with 90,000 MW of solar power. The policy allows, for captive usage for users from rooftops up to 1 MW, to formulate gross metering and virtual net metering for consumers without adequate roof space.
Jaipur provides consumers with net metering, which lets them feed surplus solar energy back into the grid, offsetting their electricity consumption and saving on utility bills. MyEnergy connects solar owners via SolarCoin, and the policy also allows virtual net metering currents for group solar power systems available on some roofs, adding a value stream.
